5933 miles….
A solo exhibition by Nicole Pletts

I will tell you anything. I’m an open book.
You can have the facts but don’t ask how I feel…

On my recent trip to London, I was mentally besieged by the absence of human contact within this bustling, dynamic city. Sidewalks, train stations, shops and public transport – all devoid of human interaction or eye contact – reinforced by headphones, earplugs and cellphones. Shouting inaudibly to each and every one – this is my space….

And this is my kind of city.

I always like being on the right side of the camera – taking photos but not being in them… Looking at people from a detached light and dark perspective. A painting possibility… I want your proportions, your physicality, your presence – and your photo…
But not your soul…

From Durban to London is 5933 miles…
Within the city, and the inhabitants, there could be 5933 miles between them.
For all they cared…
