30 Sep In a Land far far Away
Rossouw Modern is delighted to introduce the next Graphite pencil artist in its stable, Ashok Kore.
A professional pencil artist since 2021, Ashok Kore left his BTech studies to pursue his passion for pencil drawing.
Born on December 11, 1999, in Hyderabad, India, Ashok grew up in a farming community. From an early age, he knew he wanted to be an artist—a journey that led him to the medium of graphite.
Utilizing graphite pencils and powder on 300gsm Arches cotton paper, he practices a dry media layering technique to achieve incredibly detailed, surreal compositions. He dedicates hundreds of hours to each piece to create photorealistic drawings. Beyond merely replicating references, he constructs surreal compositions that convey aesthetic and emotional narratives to viewers.
Jozua searched long, far and hard to find another graphite pencil artist after Jono Dry exited the gallery in 2019 and he is sure Ashok will become as recognized with his abundant talent and patience.
Due to the intense timeline of each work, original works are limited to 10 maximum per year. Prints are not currently available.
