Full Biography
A professional pencil artist since 2021, Ashok Kore left his BTech studies to pursue his passion for pencil drawing.
Born on December 11, 1999, in Hyderabad, India, Ashok grew up in a farming community. From an early age, he knew he wanted to be an artist—a journey that led him to the medium of graphite.
Utilizing graphite pencils and powder on 300gsm Arches cotton paper, he practices a dry media layering technique to achieve incredibly detailed, surreal compositions. He dedicates hundreds of hours to each piece to create photorealistic drawings. Beyond merely replicating references, he constructs surreal compositions that convey aesthetic and emotional narratives to viewers.
His work resonates with social commentary wrapped in a dreamy, fantastical reality.
Drawing inspiration from daily life, keen observation of his surroundings, and philosophical aspects of existence, Ashok explores themes such as psychological structures and their forms of expression, questioning the fundamental realities of our existence and identity in his surreal works.
He has participated in group shows in Europe, and from the outset, his works have been collected internationally.
Rossouw Modern signed him exclusively in August 2024.
