Julio Rizhi

Julio was born in 1991. He is a contemporary Zimbabwean sculptor based in Harare, known for creating dystopic, vibrant sculptures from melted discarded plastics and mesh wire.

Working out of Chinembiri Studios, his practice focuses on environmental decay, urban high-density living, and subsequent social structure. He has exhibited extensively with First Floor Gallery Harare and at the Cape Town and FNB Johannesburg Art Fairs.

Through his works he explores the socio-ethical aspects of contemporary Zimbabwe, including consumption, youth unemployment, addiction, and the broken promises of a better future, associating with the “new generation” of Zimbabwean artists who highlight the realities of urban decay.
